Elephant racing festival in Highland, Vietnam takes place in the spring (around March lunar calendar). Elephant racing festival is usually organized in Buon Don or Serepoc forest (Dak Lak).
Racecourse is a relatively flat stretch of land (usually forests
with few big trees), which is enough for 10 elephants put up a line at a time, with
the length of 1-2 km.

A horn sounding, according to the command, the elephant
stood on the starting point. When the starting signal comes, the cycle of
elephants start running toward, together with sound of drum, cheering echo,
bringing such an exciting atmosphere.
The race ended, the elephants who win, raised the waving hose and walked leisurely, with flapping ears, dreamy eyes, receiving tubes of cane sugar.
Elephant race festival is great festival in the Central
Highlands, which reflects the martial spirit of local minority M’Nong, a brave
minority with plentiful experience of hunting wild elephants when facing dangerous
situations.
